Posted 21 February – Sony dvd -rw dw-q58a already been discussed here in this very subforum! Or is there a better one? I, and a bunch of other people, apparently need to revert back to the original.

Thank you all for the help. I’ll try sony dvd -rw dw-q58a when I get a chance to use dw-5q8a particular machine again. I reflashed and it’s back to its original firmware! If you can point me to a thread with a working link to a downloadable stock UDS1 firmware, then sony dvd -rw dw-q58a would have been a bit more helpful.

The drive previously did write CD-TEXT, but does not do somy now – I suspect that this drive did not fully support DAO, and the firmware upgrade disabled it along with whatever else was in the update.

Ew-q58a easy to do and nothing can happen, because your just “reading” it.

I’m using UYS3 and it’s working fine for me. If you don’t mind, let me go dig up some instructions someone posted for the process of how to properly rip the firmware.
